On May 17th and 18th, 2008, Christian Pop and Rock Groups will "Rock the Coast" at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park in Muskegon, Michigan. The music line-up is geared toward teens and is a combination of Christan Pop/Rock and Hip-Hop.

Christian Concerts

Rock the Coast is an event of the Unity Christian Music Festival (also held in Muskegon in mid-August). The committee for Unity Festival first held Rock the Coast in 2003. The idea was to provide Christian fun and entertainment for young teens. Over the years many youth groups and Christian schools have attended the event. At Rock the Coast this year, participants can ride and play games all day, and attend the concerts at night. Additionally, kids can take a break from riding and enjoy local and regional bands throughout the day time hours. Some of these groups include Second Hand and the Pete Cornelius Band.

In the late evening, main headlines Hawk Nelson, Run Kid Run and Group 1 Crew will perform. Hawk Nelson is described as a Christian Pop/Punk group. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Hawk Nelson has performed all over the United States and Canada including the Unity Christian Festival (the parent group of Rock the Coast). Also performing is Run Kid Run, a Pop/Rock band out of Illinois. They are a favorite for many teens and are scheduled to release their second album in late April of 2008. A new group to Rock the Coast this year is the Hip-Hop Band, Group 1 Crew. This up and coming gospel group was nominated for two Dove Awards (New Artist of the Year and Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year) in 2008.

Sunday will include a special Praise and Worship time led by Grand Rapids native Tommee Profitt.

The Amusement Park

Owned by Cedar Fair (also the parent company of Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio), Michigan's Adventure is now the largest amusement park in Michigan. This year (2008), Rock the Coast guests can be one of the first to ride the Thunderhawk, the one and only suspended roller coaster in all of Michigan. Additionally the park offers all day fun and games with a variety of wild rides (roller coasters), kiddie rides, water rides and lots of good food.

Advanced "Rock the Coast" two day tickets can be purchased for $35. This ticket includes two day admission to the park (ride all day - from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.), lunch on Saturday and admission to the concerts (beginning at 6:30 p.m.). Park hours for Sunday are also 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Funds for the event benefit Youth for Christ and other Christian charities.
