Manic Drive Release New CD "Blue"Christian Rock/Hip-Hop Trio From Toronto, Ontario Canada
The Christian Rock/Hip-Hop trio, Manic Drive, from Toronto, Ontario Canada release new CD, "Blue".
Manic Drive might be the perfect name for this pop-rock/hip-hop trio. These three guys from Toronto produce a sound that’s unique and crazy and shows that loving Jesus can be a party. Manic Drive’s new CD, Blue, is a fun album with a sound that makes you move your feet and praise the Lord. Manic Drive is Blue Blue may be the title of Manic Drive’s CD, but they are anything but. This is music that grabs the listener, picks them and their spirits. Speaking of music, that’s the name of the first track on the CD. Manic Drive starts off Blue with “Music” literally. They show us that strings can be hard as violins assault us with their unique brand of rock. The rest of the band kicks in to tell us “Take the words, take the music, take the melody. Take the beat but no one takes the soul out of me.” Next up is “Walls”, a blazing rock song infused with hip-hop. As upbeat as the music is in the song the message is clear, “Cause the truth that has been said, will unite us once again, cause there’s something going down, ya these walls are coming down.” The title track, “Blue”, is more straightforward rock and roll with a tinge of Red Hot Chili Peppers. There is great imagery and a wonderful concept in this song. We are reminded “That I can’t do this on my own, changed my will to yours, since I’ve been proven wrong again, tear my grey clouds and let my skies go to blue.” “Hope” tells us a story of desperation. It’s not as intense as most of the album as far as the music is concerned, but the passion is breathtaking. Jill Parr lends her vocal talent bringing out the emotion of the story. Blue is Manic Drive The Cavallo brothers, Shawn and Michael, make up two thirds of manic drive. Shawn does the vocals, keyboards and string programming while Michael plays the guitar. They are joined by Anthony Moreino on drums. When listening to Blue, it’s amazing that three guys could put out so much music so well. This sounds more like a full five or six piece band that is incredibly tight and talented. Much of the credit can go to Shawn Cavallo. He wrote every song on Blue, though he did have help with some of them. Michael helped with the music on “Blue”, “NYC Gangsters” and “Change” and co-wrote with Shawn “December Mourning”. Lu Rubino co-wrote “Rain” with Shawn as well as help Shawn produce four of the songs. Shawn did let Brian Hardin nine of the songs on Blue. Blue is a lively, unpredictable CD by an incredibly talented trio. Manic Drive does the Christian music community a huge favor. They show that Christians know how to have fun and just get out on the dance floor. They also proclaim the gospel, which may be the most important thing they do.
