New Method Releases Single "A Safe Distance"Song featured on the band’s new Christian album, “Old School”
The band New Method is releasing its second national single and will continue to promote its free concert series The Faith & Family Fun Night Tour.
New Method, one of music’s new bands to emerge on the national stage, will release its second single, “A Safe Distance” from the album “Old School” on January 6. The band, a Christian quartet based in Ohio, recently signed with Avista, an arm of Provident-Sony Music. Avista released “Old School” at the end of 2008. “Old School,” the band’s second full-length album also will be available at all Wal-Mart stores and at Walmart.com later this month and coincides with the national release of “A Safe Distance.” This is New Method’s second national single from the album, the first being “All About the Love.” In support of both the single and the album, New Method appeared on Columbus, Ohio’s Fox 28’s “Good Day Columbus” for a interviews and performances on December 15 and 24, 2008. Founder of the band, Doug Meacham, said of “A Safe Distance, “We feel this song will really touch a lot of people who have wanted love in their life, but have felt like they need to guard their hearts. Plus, it speaks about the fact that we keep a safe distance from the love that God offers with that same fear of commitment.” About New Method New Method has been a national finalist in the NACAS songwriting competition for the song “Heart’s Desire.” The band was featured in Christianity Today’s Sports Spectrum Magazine for its development of the Faith & Family Night Tour in 2003. In 2004, the band was selected as the Ohio Christian Music Association’s “Up and Coming Band of the Year” awarded by the Governor of Ohio. New Method posted a No. 6 ranking on the myCCM Top 100 for 2007 in CCM Magazine and reached No. 3 on national radio charts with the single “All About The Love.” The band maintains a strong touring schedule and has played the Meadowlands in New Jersey, Soldier Field in Chicago, Mile High Stadium in Denver, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, among others as part of an event started by the band, The Faith & Family Fun Night Tour. A side project of the band, The Faith & Family Night Tour, was first organized in 2003. Through the tour, New Method performs free at sporting events along side organizations such as the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers basketball teams, the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club, the Dallas Stars hockey, and more than 50 other professional teams since founding the event. Meacham, also a pastor at his home church of Grace Chapel Community Church in Westerville, Ohio, said the band continues to seek ways to reach out to families and children in communities throughout the country using the band’s music as a hook. “We wanted this CD to be a very unique project that begins with a reflection of the past, and moves into a more mature view of true love, and how we often fight against it,” he said. New Method’s first album, the self-titled "New Method," was picked up for national distribution through TAG Artist Group (www.tagartistgroup.com) and is available in Christian bookstores.
